The annual returns: closing the tax year

The declaración anual gathers the year-end summaries and adjustments: the Renta (modelo 100), the annual IVA summary (modelo 390) and, where applicable, informational withholding summaries. It closes and reconciles what was declared quarter by quarter.

The declaración anual isn't a single one, but the group of year-end returns. The two main ones: the Renta (modelo 100), which settles your final IRPF, and the annual IVA summary (modelo 390).

If you withheld from others, you also file the corresponding informational summaries (such as the 190, the annual summary of the 111). The idea is the same: close the year and confirm that what was declared each quarter matches the total.

How Cece sees it

The annual returns are the year's summary, not a surprise exam. If the quarters were tidy, the close is a formality. Keeping the books up to date through the year is what makes January and the Renta easy.

Frequently asked questions

What's filed at year-end besides the quarters?

Mainly the Renta (modelo 100) and the annual IVA summary (modelo 390). If you withheld IRPF from employees or professionals, also informational summaries such as the modelo 190. They close the year and reconcile what was already declared.
